New Magnetic Ring Encoder Offers Velocity Feedback for Large Shafts

Called the MRI 2000, this new ring encoder meets the challenge that some large machinery OEMs and users face of increasing output power at the same time as reducing weight, such as in wind turbines for example.

LVDTs versus Optical Scanning
Gaging fixtures are a staple in many metrology labs and assembly lines. They offer a fast, easy, and inexpensive way to determine if a measured part passes tolerances. Two popular tools that are found in many fixtures are HEIDENHAIN length gages and Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDT).
